PDMA Issues Warning of Increased Rainfall in Punjab
News Desk
Bahawalpur: The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning that South Punjab, including the Bahawalpur division, may experience increased rainfall throughout the current month.
The PDMA has urged local authorities to prepare for potential rescue and relief operations in case of emergencies caused by heavy rains. Director General of PDMA, Irfan Ali, emphasized that the coming days are crucial due to hydro-meteorological conditions that could bring more rain to the region.
However, he reassured that there is currently no significant risk of flash floods as river levels are not high.
Ali advised deputy commissioners and the education department to ensure that buildings, especially educational institutions, are in good condition to withstand the expected rains.
He stressed the importance of taking immediate action if any school building is found to be in a poor state.
The PDMA, along with the Board of Revenue, Government of Punjab, had previously issued a significant alert.
They urged the management of all districts in the Punjab province to stay vigilant and be prepared to handle potential flood-like situations as the region may receive more heavy rainfall this month.
