Islamabad:  The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has launched a robust campaign to eliminate plastic bags from local markets in the Federal Capital, emphasizing zero tolerance for violations.

During a recent visit to the H-9 Sunday Bazaar, the Assistant Commissioner of I-9 enforced the district’s strict ban on plastic bags. Accompanied by district administration teams, the AC confiscated plastic bags and imposed fines of Rs 20,000 on violators.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to phase out plastic bags in Islamabad, as underscored by the Deputy Commissioner. The district administration’s zero-tolerance policy means that any breach of the ban will result in stringent legal action.

The Assistant Commissioner affirmed that the ban is comprehensive, with consistent enforcement across all markets, reflecting the district’s commitment to completely eliminating plastic bags from the city.
