Ingredients for Kofta:

  • 1 cup sliced onion
  • 1 cup green coriander
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • 2-3 ginger pods
  • 1/2 cup green chilies
  • 1 kg beef mince
  • 1/2 cup roasted chana powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 4-5 boiled eggs
  • Oil (for frying)

Ingredients for Gravy:

  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 cup onion paste
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup hot water
  • Fried kofta

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Kofta Mixture:
    • In a chopper, add sliced onion, green coriander, garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Chop well.
    • Add beef mince, roasted chana powder, red chili powder, poppy seeds, cumin powder, salt, turmeric powder, and melted butter. Chop again until well combined.
  2. Shape the Kofta:
    • Take a handful of the beef mince mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place a boiled egg in the center and cover it with the beef mixture, shaping it into a ball.
    • Deep fry the koftas until they are about 80% cooked. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Gravy:
    • Heat oil in a pot and add onion paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
    • Add ginger garlic paste and cook for an additional minute.
    • Stir in tomato puree, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
    • Add yogurt and cook until the oil separates from the gravy.
    • Pour in hot water and add the fried koftas. Cover and cook until the koftas are fully done and tender.
    • Serve:
      • Your Nargisi Kofta is ready to be served. Enjoy with naan or rice!
