PMD Predicts Rain, Storms Across Punjab, Islamabad & KP

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts rain, windstorms and thundershowers for Upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Northeast/South Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) in the next 24 hours.

Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Northeast Punjab, the Potohar Region, Upper KP, and Kashmir.

Current synoptic conditions include monsoon currents penetrating from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal into the eastern and upper parts of the country. Additionally, a westerly wave trough is present in the northern parts.

In the past 24 hours, rain-wind and thundershowers occurred in the upper KP, northeast/south Punjab, Sindh, south/central Balochistan, and Kashmir. The recorded rainfall amounts are:
KP: Cherat 46mm, Kakul 15mm, Kalam 01mm, Dir (Lower) 01mm
Punjab: Rahim Yar Khan 18mm, Chakwal 12mm, Joharabad 12mm, Khanpur 11mm, Gujrat 08mm, Jhang 01mm
Sindh: Khairpur 07mm, Karachi (North Karachi 04mm, MOS 02mm, Gulshan-e-Maymar 01mm), Chhor 02mm, Rohri 02mm, Tando Jam 01mm, Hyderabad (City) 01mm, Sukkur 01mm
Balochistan: Jiwani 05mm, Kalat 04mm
Kashmir: Kotli 05mm, Garhi Dupatta 04mm, Muzaffarabad 01mm

The highest maximum temperatures recorded were Chilas at 44°C, Nokkundi at 43°C, and Bunji at 43°C.
