Passenger Caught Smuggling 100 Snakes

News Desk

Islamabad: Customs officials at a Chinese airport apprehended a passenger attempting to smuggle 100 live snakes in his pants. The incident occurred when the passenger, whose identity remains unknown, was trying to travel from Hong Kong to Shenzhen.

During a routine inspection, customs officers discovered six canvas bags stuffed into the pockets of the passenger’s trousers and sealed with tape.

Upon removing the bags, officials found dozens of live snakes of various sizes and species in each one. In total, 104 live snakes were recovered, most of which were non-native species. A video circulating on social media also shows two border agents holding plastic bags containing red, pink, and white snakes.

China is a major hub for animal trafficking, but authorities are intensifying their efforts to combat illegal wildlife trade. The country’s biosecurity and disease control regulations prohibit the importation of non-native species.

Although the exact penalty for the detained passenger has not been disclosed, customs authorities have stated that violators will face legal consequences in accordance with the law.
