Jackman’s Wolverine Suit Sparks Reaction on “Deadpool & Wolverine” Set

Islamabad: The set of “Deadpool & Wolverine” was charged with emotion when Hollywood star Hugh Jackman donned Wolverine’s iconic yellow and blue suit from Marvel comics, a moment that deeply affected both the crew and cast.
Executive producer Wendy Jacobson recounted how the sight of Jackman in the classic outfit, alongside Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, brought many crew members to tears during a camera test before filming began.
Jackman, who has portrayed Wolverine for 17 years, had never worn the yellow and blue costume before. Reflecting on this pivotal moment, Jackman noted that during the first “X-Men” film in 1999, the actors wore black leather costumes, shaping his view of Wolverine’s look for years.
Putting on the vibrant suit for “Deadpool & Wolverine” was a transformative experience for him, highlighting its importance in Wolverine’s legacy.
Ryan Reynolds, who stars alongside Jackman, also observed the profound impact of seeing Jackman in the classic suit.
Reynolds emphasized that the decision to include the suit in the film was an easy one, given its deep significance for fans and the character’s portrayal.
The idea to feature Jackman in the classic costume was spearheaded by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Feige insisted that if Jackman were to return as Wolverine after the critically acclaimed “Logan,” it had to be in the iconic yellow suit, honoring Wolverine’s enduring legacy in Marvel comics.
Director Shawn Levy confirmed Feige’s vision, noting that the suit was integral to the film’s representation of Wolverine.
“Deadpool & Wolverine,” set for release on July 26 in the United States, is the third installment in the “Deadpool” franchise. The film’s plot sees Wolverine coming out of retirement to help Deadpool on a mission to save their world.
Initially reluctant to reprise his role after “Logan,” Jackman’s decision to return as Wolverine was influenced by his appreciation of the first “Deadpool” film, which rekindled his interest in the character and this new cinematic venture.
