Hangu: In a tragic incident at the Police Training College in Hangu, a young trainee identified as Abdul Basit, son of Abdul Rahim from District Haripur, tragically took his own life while on duty.

According to a press release from the Police Training College administration, the trainee, part of the lower course police training program, reportedly shot himself due to domestic issues,

Following the incident, he was immediately rushed to District Headquarters Hospital Hangu for medical treatment, but succumbed to his injuries.

Prior to his death, it was reported that the deceased had left a written note attributing his actions to personal domestic problems, as stated in the press release.

This incident echoes a previous tragedy in 2023 when another trainee at the same institution took his own life after facing punishment for tardiness despite being unwell.

This earlier incident prompted an inquiry and the subsequent suspension of the deputy commandant of the Police Training College in Hangu.

As of now, it is unclear whether a similar inquiry will be conducted following this recent suicide, as the press release from the training college has not mentioned any plans for an investigation into the circumstances leading up to this tragic event.
