931 Wardens Deployed for Muharram

News Desk

Rawalpindi: Over 931 traffic wardens, supervised by inspectors and DSPs, will be on duty on city roads to manage traffic flow during Muharram.

According to City Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Tamoor Khan, traffic police officers and wardens have been instructed to take action against vehicles with tinted glasses, revolving lights, unregistered vehicles and motorcycles, and those with improper or fake number plates.

To ensure the security of mourning processions during Muharram-ul-Haram, the City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has issued a comprehensive traffic plan.

As per the plan, there will be a complete ban on parking any vehicle or pushcart along the procession routes. Fork lifters will accompany Muharram processions.

The CTO informed that wardens have been directed to remove all kinds of encroachments from the procession routes and to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious persons and objects.

The entry of vehicles on procession routes will be blocked by erecting barricades and other barriers, added the CTO.

Traffic police officials will be deployed alongside district police personnel to ensure the security of the mourners. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against any delinquent officials, according to the CTO.

Traffic load will be diverted to alternate routes during the mourning processions. A control room will be set up at Traffic Headquarters to monitor the situation, and motorists seeking help and assistance can use the CTP helpline at 051-9272616.
