PMD Forecasts Hot, Humid Weather Across Country

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast mainly hot and humid weather for most parts of the country over the next 24 hours, as of Sunday.

However, rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected in isolated areas, including northeast Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to the synoptic situation, weak moist currents from the Arabian Sea are penetrating the upper parts of the country and are likely to strengthen by Monday evening or night.

Additionally, a westerly wave is expected to approach the upper parts of the country on Monday evening or night.

In the past 24 hours, rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms occurred in isolated places in northeast Punjab, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeast and south Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hot and humid weather prevailed in other parts of the country.

The recorded rainfall amounts were as follows:

Punjab: Narowal 27mm, Lahore (City 18, Airport 05), Murree 08, Sialkot (City 08, Airport 04), Chakwal 02, Sheikhupura 02

Kashmir: Garhi Dupatta 17, Rawalakot 06

Balochistan: Zhob 05

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa: Kalam 03, Lower Dir 01

Gilgit-Baltistan: Astore 01mm

The highest maximum temperatures recorded were Sibbi and Nokkundi at 47°C, Jacobabad and Dalbandin at 46°C, and Dadu and Bhakkar at 45°C.
