Rawalpindi: The citizens have been advised to adopt all possible precautionary measures to protect themselves from the Congo virus during Eid ul Azha.

In response, the Livestock Department, under the directives of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak, is taking significant steps to curb the spread of diseases.

The Commissioner issued instructions to implement necessary measures to prevent disease outbreaks, given the increased movement of animals during Eid-ul-Adha, according to a district administration spokesman.

He stated that all possible steps are being taken to control the Congo virus and other diseases.

Banners promoting free veterinary services have been displayed at selected sale points. Mobile veterinary dispensaries have been deployed by the Livestock Department to provide free medicines.

Additionally, loudspeakers are being used to disseminate animal welfare awareness messages as per Engineer Aamir Khattak’s instructions. The department is also ensuring the availability of anti-tick spray, antibiotics, and other essential drugs.

Inter-provincial and inter-district check posts have been established to facilitate the spraying of animals to prevent the Congo virus and to segregate sick animals. Special attention is also being given to slaughterhouses and butcher shops.

Following the Commissioner’s directives, relevant authorities are ensuring the attendance of livestock staff and the availability of necessary medicines. Moreover, no cattle markets are being set up near densely populated areas to safeguard human health.
