Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid a surprise visit to the Karachi Company police station in G-9 Markaz Islamabad on Saturday.

He was dismayed by the dilapidated condition of the police station. The front desk, crime computer, and FIR branch were housed in very small rooms, and a sleeping cart was found in the investigation officer’s room.

Additionally, he observed poor sanitation, broken doors, and the investigating officers’ rooms in the basement were in very poor shape.

The Interior Minister expressed his anger over the poor state of the police station. He inspected the basement, ground, and first floors, and met with citizens present at the station, listening to their problems and inquiring about their cases.

He checked the records of the front desk and reviewed the progress on the applications, directing that they be processed within the stipulated period. He instructed the SHO to take appropriate action to resolve the citizens’ issues and tasked the SHO with arresting robbery suspects within seven days upon a citizen’s request.

Minister Naqvi also inspected the police officers’ barracks in the basement. He remarked that this was his first visit to any police station in Islamabad and was very disheartened by the condition. He stressed that if the justice providers’ facilities were in such a state, the citizens would suffer even more.

He emphasized that all police stations in Islamabad would be upgraded to match the standards in Punjab.
