New AI Technology Developed For Timely Detection Of Heart Disease
News Desk
Islamabad: Researchers in the UK have developed a new artificial intelligence (AI) technology that could help identify patients at risk of heart failure. The technology can detect early signs of the condition using patient records, helping doctors start treatment sooner and save a patient’s life.
How it works?
To train the AI algorithm, the researchers used patient records from 671,310 adults in the UK and Taiwan. The algorithm then learned which patterns in the patient’s records were associated with heart failure risk.
Results
The study found that the AI algorithm was more than 80% accurate in predicting patients at highest risk of heart failure within five years. It was also more than 75% accurate in predicting patients who were hospitalized with heart failure.
Potential benefits
Researchers believe AI technology could be used to advance the diagnosis of heart failure, giving doctors more time to start treating the condition. This can help improve the patient’s survival and quality of life.
Next Steps
Researchers are now examining how AI technology can be used in real-world settings. They also plan to launch a clinical trial to see if the technology can help improve patient outcomes.
Heart failure is a condition in which the heart is not strong enough to pump. It is a serious condition that causes the death of millions of people every year. Risk factors for heart failure include age, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity.
