AJK Regime Receives Kashmir Council Assets

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Amir Maqam, emphasized the decisive actions taken by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, which averted a potential crisis and violence in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
He also commended President Asif Ali Zardari for his role in resolving Kashmiri issues.
During a press briefing, Maqam announced the transfer of 36 vehicles and 213 employees from the Kashmir Council to the AJK government, fulfilling the demands of Kashmiris. He assured that all pending matters of the AJK government would be promptly addressed.
Highlighting financial matters, Maqam stated that the Kashmir Council’s fund of Rs 7.6 billion had been transferred to the AJK government. Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sanctioned Rs 23 billion for flour and electricity subsidies, with proper agreements and notifications issued for new tariff rates.
Maqam denounced attempts by certain groups to exploit recent protests for their own agendas, asserting their failure in their malicious endeavors.
Regarding Kashmiris’ demand for fair water resource charges, Maqam pledged resolution within 30 days. He also promised financial aid packages for the families of martyrs.
