Quetta Receives First Monsoon Rain

Quetta: In thunder and heavy winds, the provincial capital of Balochistan received the first monsoon rainfall on Monday, turning the weather pleasant, sources said on Monday.
The heavy downpour started early in the morning and continued at intervals in various localities of the city.
The rain also inundated almost all main roads, resulting in traffic jams at the main passages of the city.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department prediction for Monday, a rainstorm with few heavy falls was expected in Quetta, Zhob, Dalbandin, Nokkundi, Noshki, Qila Saifullah, Mastung, Kalat, and the coastal belt (Gwadar, Pasni, and Ormara).
Windstorms may damage loose structures in vulnerable locations in the Balochistan area, PMD said, issuing a warning that sea conditions may become rough from third to July 5, 2022.
The fishermen of the coastal belt are advised to take extra care during the period. Meanwhile, the power supplying company has advised the dwellers of Quetta to be extra cautious during rains to avoid life losses.
Residents should be careful while using electrical appliances, it said, urging the public to maintain a safe distance from broken wires and electric poles.
