Islamabad: Police apprehended a “most wanted” terrorist affiliated with the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) from the Lyari area of Karachi, announced Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South, Asad Raza, on Sunday.
The captured militant, identified as Mairaj alias Mama, was known for supplying intelligence to BLA commander Jalal.
In 2017, Mairaj conducted surveillance on an army convoy traveling from Turbat to Gwadar in Balochistan, enabling militants to launch an attack that resulted in the martyrdom of Pakistan Army personnel.
DIG South Raza stated that the terrorist also conducted reconnaissance on a military encampment located within a school in Balochistan’s Naseerabad, leading to a fatal assault on soldiers.
The arrested militant aided in the targeted killings of four individuals, who were relatives of an officer associated with an intelligence agency, by gathering intelligence on them. Furthermore, the terrorist facilitated an assault on the Gwadar Port during the holy month of Ramadan, resulting in the deaths of numerous soldiers.
DIG Raza highlighted that the detained militant was also involved in an attack on army personnel in Nushki, resulting in multiple casualties among the soldiers.
