Islamabad: Well, all the sweets are loved but when it comes to gulab jamun, all the other sweets are left behind. Every festival and every joy is incomplete without sweets. So today we will teach you how to make gulab jamun in a very easy way. As soon as you eat it, you will forget the market-made gulab jamun.
Ingredients
- Khoya (mawa): 500 grams
- All-purpose flour (maida): 50 grams
- Baking powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg: 1
- Water: 2 cups
- Sugar: 2 cups
- Cardamom pods: 2, crushed
- Edible oil: 1 1/2 liters for frying
Instructions:
In a pan, combine water, sugar, and crushed cardamom pods. Cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes to make the sugar syrup. Once done, set it aside.
In a mixing bowl, crumble the khoya until it becomes smooth.
Add all-purpose flour, baking powder, and the egg to the khoya. Mix well to form a smooth dough. If the mixture is too dry, you can add a little milk to adjust the consistency.
Divide the dough into small portions and roll them into round balls, ensuring there are no cracks.
Heat the edible oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
Carefully add the rolled gulab jamun balls into the hot oil. Fry them on low to medium heat until they turn golden brown, turning them occasionally for even cooking.
Once fried, remove the gulab jamun from the oil and drain excess oil by placing them on a paper towel.
Now, gently place the fried gulab jamun balls into the prepared sugar syrup. Let them soak in the syrup for at least 2-3 hours to absorb the flavors.
After soaking, your delicious gulab jamun is ready to serve. You can garnish them with chopped nuts like almonds or pistachios if desired.
Enjoy your homemade gulab jamun!
