Eid’s Brightness in the Shadows

Lahore: Amidst the corridors of Children’s Hospital Lahore, where the air often echoes with the sounds of medical care and whispered hopes, a remarkable Eid celebration unfolded.

Despite the challenges faced by young patients and their families, the hospital radiated with the spirit of festivity and resilience.

Adorned with colorful decorations and warm Eid greetings, the hospital became a sanctuary of joy and camaraderie. ‘Youth Concerns’ Volunteers led by Dr Ammara Fayyaz affectionately known as Dr Ain Fay orchestrated a day filled with laughter, fun, and cherished moments.

“The essence of Eid is to spread happiness, especially in times of difficulty,” remarked Dr. Ain Fay, emphasizing the importance of uplifting spirits during the festive season.

Jalil, whose son is under the hospital’s care, expressed gratitude for the sense of community fostered by the event.

“Despite being away from home, the hospital has become our extended family,” she shared.

One of the highlights of the day was the collective display of toys in the hospital lobby, where patients and parents alike revealed the joy of playtime. 

Remote control cars whizzed around, Mickey Mouse brought smiles to young faces, and team members engaged in friendly competition, creating a magical atmosphere of delight.

“It’s heartwarming to see the children forget their pain, if only for a moment, and embrace the joy of the occasion,” remarked Ahmad, a dedicated volunteer from Youth Concerns.

The Eid celebration at Children’s Hospital Lahore not only brought smiles to the faces of young patients and their families but also served as a testament to the power of collective action in creating positive change. With each passing year, “Youth Concerns” continues to illuminate the lives of those in need, spreading hope and healing to the community it serves.

Established in 2013 as a non-profit organization, “Youth Concerns” has been spreading joy and hope through annual gift distributions and Eid celebrations for the past decade. Additionally, the organization has been actively involved in community health initiatives, including organizing medical camps for screening of Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and AIDS.

Looking ahead to the 10th anniversary, Dr Ain Fay shared an inspiring vision for the future. Alongside the ongoing efforts to bring joy to young patients during Eid, “Youth Concerns” aims to launch a food cart initiative in the upcoming months, providing free meals to the underprivileged.

This initiative embodies the organization’s commitment to serving the community and fostering a culture of compassion and support.
