Civil Servants Urge PM to Shift Eid Holidays to April 9 for Travel Convenience
According to the notification, offices operating six days a week will observe holidays from April 10 to 13. For offices operating five days a week, the holidays will be from April 10 to 12.
Since April 14 is a Sunday, employees will essentially have five consecutive days off.
Civil servants have criticized this decision, citing astronomers and meteorologists’ forecasts that Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to occur on April 10.
They argue that if public holidays start from April 10, employees will have difficulty traveling to their native areas for Eid celebrations.
They have appealed to the Prime Minister to commence the holidays from April 9 to ensure adequate time for employees to travel to their hometowns.
