Adiala Jail Bans Meetings with PTI Founder, Other Inmates

News Desk

Rawalpindi: The Punjab Home Department has imposed a ban on meetings with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and other jail inmates in Adiala Jail for two weeks.

Previously, the jail administration had designated Tuesdays and Thursdays for such meetings. However, this ban has now been imposed, citing security threats.

In addition to this, Rawalpindi police have also prohibited media coverage outside Adiala Jail. They have placed barriers in the parking area designated for media vehicles outside Gate No. 5 of the jail.

Security officials on-site have instructed media teams to move 2 kilometres away from the jail premises, effectively preventing them from covering any events or developments at the jail.

Moreover, the Punjab Home Department has issued a comprehensive ban on all types of visits, meetings, and interviews within Adiala Jail, according to a notification issued.

The decision comes amid heightened security concerns, with the installation of barbed wire outside the jail premises due to a security alert.

Furthermore, the notification mandates thorough searches of every individual’s clothing within the jail premises, along with clearance operations both inside and around the jail.

Mock exercises and clearance operations involving police and rangers have been conducted to bolster security measures in the vicinity of Adiala Jail.
