Jagan Kazmi’s Photo of Kissing ASP Shahrabano’s Hand Goes Viral
News Desk
Islamabad: The image of actress Jagan Kazmi kissing the hand of police officer Shehrbanu Naqvi, who rescued a woman from an enraged mob in Lahore, Punjab’s capital, has garnered widespread attention.
On February 26 in Lahore, a mob attempted to harm a woman over alleged blasphemy accusations due to Arabic calligraphy on her attire.
Prompt police intervention saved her. The woman, accompanied by her husband, was wearing a garment with Arabic lettering, which the mob interpreted as Quranic verses.
A significant crowd gathered in Achhra Bazar, harassing and attempting to harm the woman. The timely arrival of the police, notably Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shahrabano, averted tragedy.
ASP Shahrabano’s heroism earned her praise, with actress and TV host Jagan Kazmi sharing images and videos of their meeting on Instagram and conducting an interview on YouTube.
Jagan Kazmi referred to ASP Shahrabano as her hero, expressing admiration through photos, one of which depicted Kazmi kissing the police officer’s hand.
However, this gesture sparked controversy, with some users deeming it excessive.
Critics argued that while commendable, it shouldn’t elevate the officer to an overly exalted status.
Some users also pointed out allegations of the officer’s involvement in politically motivated arrests of women.
