Lucky Draw Bonanza: Citizens Get Biogas Plants

Sargodha: As many as 300 biogas plants were distributed among citizens through a lucky draw in Sargodha. Commissioner Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti distributed the plants documents among citizens on Saturday.
In this context, a ceremony took place at the Commissioner’s office where Deputy Director (Technical) Rana Shahid Imran provided details on the allocation of biogas plants in Sargodha division. According to Imran, the Punjab government received 1,067 applications for the allotted quota of 300 biogas plants. Out of these, 334 applications were rejected for not complying with the specified rules and regulations, while 733 applications were approved.
He further announced that 300 biogas plants would be installed free of charge.
Imran shared specific numbers for different districts within Sargodha division. For the 174 quotas allocated for the Sargodha district, 474 applications were received, with 50 rejections. Similarly, for the 56 quotas in Khushab, 251 applications were received, and 115 were rejected. In Mianwali, where 49 quotas were assigned, 265 applications were received, with 144 rejections. Lastly, for the 21 quotas in Bhakkar, 77 applications were received, and 25 were rejected.
The Deputy Director highlighted that individuals from rural areas without access to gas facilities were encouraged to apply through newspaper advertisements. He specified the eligibility criteria for the biogas plant, which includes a land requirement of two to twelve and a half acres, a household of six people, and eight livestock.
The total cost of the plant, imported from China, is approximately Rs 425,000, and the Punjab government will fully fund this initiative.
Imran emphasized that the biogas plants would cater to the needs of a household for 20 years, providing a sustainable source of gas for cooking. He mentioned the eco-friendly nature of this initiative, which not only saves wood but also produces fertilizer.
Commissioner Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti praised the project as a revolutionary step for the people of Sargodha division. The installation of these biogas plants is expected to bring about positive environmental and economic impacts in the region.
