Kabul: At least to two people were killed and 12 others injured in an explosion in western Kabul on Thursday, police said.
It is the third deadly blast to hit the Afghan capital in less than a week, the police added.
Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran disclosed that a grenade detonated outside a commercial center in the Dasht-e-Barchi area.
Zadran stated, “The initial information shows that unfortunately, two civilian compatriots were martyred and 12 others were wounded.” This blast is the second deadly incident in Dasht-i-Barchi within the week.
Eyewitness Abdul Rauf described, “I was passing the area and saw many people and security forces, and unfortunately, ambulances were shifting the injured people to the hospital.”
This incident follows a pattern of heightened violence in Kabul, with the previous attack on a mini-bus on Saturday resulting in five deaths and 15 injuries. While the rival Daesh or the Islamic State claimed responsibility for Saturday’s attack, no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the other two explosions.
Security forces, as asserted by Zadran, are committed to prioritizing the safety of all citizens amid these security challenges.
