Lahore: In a proactive move to elevate hygiene standards in public sector hospitals, the Punjab government has mandated the daily replacement of bedsheets in these facilities.
Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr Jamal Nasir introduced the ‘three-color bedsheets system’ during a recent monthly performance review meeting for Tehsil headquarters hospitals.
Commencing on January 1, 2024, district headquarters hospitals will adopt bedsheets in three distinct colors, with a similar implementation scheduled for tehsil headquarters hospitals from January 15. Dr Nasir stressed the implementation of a daily schedule for the rotation of different-colored bedsheets on all hospital beds.
To support this initiative, district headquarters hospitals will receive seven bedsheets per bed, each in three colors. Additionally, disposable bed sheets will be utilized in emergency wards, ensuring a fresh sheet for each patient.
