China Issues Yellow Alert

Beijing: China’s Meteorological Authority issued a yellow alert for blizzards, anticipating intense snowfall in the northern regions.

Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, and Henan provinces are expected to experience heavy snow from Wednesday through Thursday morning, according to the National Meteorological Centre (NMC).

In response to the impending blizzard, kindergartens, primary, and secondary schools in Beijing, the capital city, suspended classes on Wednesday.

Moreover, the NMC issued a fresh yellow alert for a cold wave, projecting a significant temperature drop of 8 to 12 degrees Celsius across most parts of China from Wednesday until Saturday.

Additionally, the centre issued a new yellow alert for ice warnings in parts of Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, Hebei, Shandong, and Hubei provinces, anticipating freezing rain.

China operates a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red signifying the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow, and blue alerts.
