Polish Tourist Guides Explore Peshawar’s Charm

Peshawar: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) on Tuesday organized a “City Tour” for a group of Polish tourist guides with the aim of familiarizing them with the rich historical sites and tourist attractions of Peshawar, often referred to as the “City of Flowers.” This initiative was part of a broader effort to entice foreign tourists and bolster tourism in the province.During the tour, the visiting tourists were taken to various historically significant locations, including the Mahabat Khan Mosque, Chowk Yadgar, Ghanta Ghar, Sethi House, Heritage Trail, Gor Khatri Archaeological Complex, and the renowned educational institution, Islamia College. They had the opportunity to explore museums, temples, British-era fire tenders, and other ancient sites.Saeed Khan, the conservator of the KPCTA, provided the tourists with valuable insights into the historical importance of Peshawar as the sole remaining living city of the Gandhara civilization. The tourists expressed a genuine interest in the diverse collection at Peshawar Museum, which encompasses a wide range of artifacts such as art, sculptures, coins, manuscripts, statues, ancient books, early versions of the Holy Quran, weaponry, clothing, jewelry, inscriptions, paintings from the Mughal and subsequent eras, household items, pottery, as well as local and Persian handicrafts.One of the highlights of the tour was Sethi Mohallah, also known as Mohallah Sethian, an old neighborhood in the historic part of Peshawar. This neighborhood features seven South Asian mansions constructed by the Sethi family. The foreign visitors had the chance to savor traditional foods and explore the historic charms of this locality.

The tourists expressed their enthusiasm for the experience, noting their intention to share their discoveries upon returning to Poland. They also commended the warm and welcoming nature of the locals and the delectable local cuisine.It is important to highlight that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is becoming a popular destination for tourists from all around the world, thanks to the relentless efforts made by the KPCTA to promote tourism and the rich cultural heritage of the region.
