Steering Committee Formed To Resolve Newly Merged Districts Affairs

Peshawar: The provincial government has established a steering committee for the newly merged district affairs to take timely and practical measures, in which all the institutions and departments related to the development, administration and other issues of the merged districts have been given membership.
The government has established a separate ministry for the affairs of these districts under the chairmanship of the Caretaker Minister in order to speed up the development process in the merged districts, to solve the problems being faced by the people there, and to take practical steps.
Industries, Commerce and Technical Education Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Minister Dr Aamir Abdullah presided over the first high-level steering committee meeting, in the committee room of the Home and Tribal Affairs department here at Peshawar.
Additional Chief Secretary gave a detailed briefing to Dr Aamir as the chairman of the steering committee, regarding the aims and objectives of the forum and its responsibilities and objectives.
Chief Secretary informed Dr Abdullah that a delivery unit has also been established to support the committee, by monitoring and evaluating the affairs of the same district, such as development projects, special initiatives, development processes and government policy, in terms of implementation and action.
For the better management of the affairs of the merged districts, under the Special Secretary of Home and Tribal Affairs department, the unit staff will provide services as the secretariat for the Steering Committee and staff services will be taken from the existing staff of the department.
They were told that the project management and reforms unit will support the delivery unit for collecting targets from the departments and electronic reporting of government affairs in these areas.
Our goal is to bring the development process in the merged districts on par with other parts of the province so that the people there can benefit from its objectives in a better way, stated Minister.
Commerce Minister said that the establishment of the steering committee was implemented to speed up the government’s initiatives for the people there to include the merged districts equally in the development process and to raise awareness of the problems in these areas.
Interim Minister further said that through the delivery unit, he wants to make the e-service delivery mechanism available so that good governance can be improved and the government can get timely information.
Dr Aamir asked the participants of the committee to provide all the overall details of the projects initiated through various programs for the merged districts in the next meeting.
