GC University Backs Karachi University Faculty
News Desk
Hyderabad: The Government College University (GCU) Hyderabad Teachers Association has warned of intensified protests if the issues confronting and nagging Karachi University faculty are not addressed.
Moreover, the association has supported the demands of Karachi University Teachers Society (KUTS) for an increase in salaries and remuneration for classes.
Association President Prof Tariq Hussain Jalbani further said that the due salaries should be paid immediately, as the government of Sindh had already released funds for the said purpose.
Dr Tariq Hussain and other office bearers said that the faculty’s other issues, such as approval of the budget, timely selection boards, and restoration of panel hospitals, should also be resolved on a priority basis.
Furthermore, the association has disapproved of the behaviour of KU’s administration towards the faculty. They said that whenever the teachers applied for leave for post-doctorate, either they were asked to fulfil illegal demands or forced to resign.
The association alleged that the medical boards tormented faculty based on personal enmity, while the syndicate is also being used to make decisions against teachers.
Moreover, KUTS has announced a complete boycott of classes from today in protest of their demands on Friday. The decision to boycott classes was taken in the general body meeting of the teachers’ association yesterday.
The association demanded that the Sindh Chief Minister take immediate notice of the administrative crisis at the KU and order investigations through a commission into non-approval of the university budget for six years.
