Karachi: Pakistani Pop songwriting duo Hassan and Roshaan have now joined the esteemed ranks of RADAR Pakistan’s featured talents as Spotify has included them in its third-quarter showcase.
Their exclusive two-part mini-documentary promises to provide fans with an intimate look into their artistic journey.
The Lahore-based talented team offers a unique and alluring sound that fuses eastern traditions with electric western influences.
Often referred to as ‘contemporary subcontinental’, Hassan and Roshaan’s music delivers a particular combination of traditional Pakistani melodies intertwined with contemporary western elements. The result is a captivating sound that appeals to a variety of listeners.
“We have always had strong feelings for the Pakistani music industry and have worked to do our part to move it in a new direction,” they stated.
Pop duo further added that being included as Spotify’s new RADAR artists from Pakistan is not only special because of the feature alone; it’s also very special to witness our journey described in such detail in the RADAR documentary. Really gets us to reflect on how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go!
Spotify Artist and Label Partnerships Manager for Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Khan FM said that the two-part documentary on Hassan and Roshaan’s musical careers will help us promote them as RADAR artists, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it.
Their music has resonated deeply with Pakistani audiences and it’s time to take their music to a global audience, Khan added.
The debut of this effervescent duo was with their album ‘Chaar Dinon Ka Khwaab’, which begins with the track ‘Allah Hu’, which almost instantly gained traction with audiences. The 18-track album was a refreshing addition to the indie music scene in Pakistan.
Their breakthrough moment arrived with their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Ms. Marvel. Their track ‘Doobne de (reprise)’ was featured in this star-studded South Asian cast mini-series, earning the duo significant recognition and praise.
In 2022, they released their biggest hit to date with ‘Sukoon’, featuring the iconic Shae Gill – a Spotify EQUAL Pakistan Ambassador – which even featured among the top three highest-performing tracks on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Pakistan playlist in 2023.
The RADAR program has been crucial in bringing emerging artists to the forefront by giving them the chance to interact with a larger audience and, in some cases, catch the attention of major record labels.
