Nairobi: A 95-year-old man in Kenya has tied the knot with his longtime love after six decades of companionship.

According to local media reports, Ibrahim Mbugua, aged 95, married 90-year-old Tabitha Wangui on Sunday at a church in Makurweini, a town located three hours from Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

Speaking to reporters outside the church, Ibrahim Mbugua recounted how he and Tabitha Wangui first met in 1960 and fell deeply in love.

Despite being legally married under Kikuyu traditions, the couple, who are devout Christians, decided to also solemnise their union with a church ceremony.

Tabitha Wangui shared her insights on a happy marriage, highlighting the importance of respect in a relationship. “Women should respect their husbands,” she told the media. “If they do so, they will be as content with their husbands as I am.”

She further advised women to avoid any wrongdoing and to apologise if they make a mistake, emphasising the value of humility and forgiveness in sustaining a harmonious marriage.

For their special day, Ibrahim Mbugua chose a grey suit paired with a silver tie, while Tabitha Wangui looked elegant in a white dress complemented by a cream brocade jacket and a white hat.
