Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi’s iconic Kachehri Chowk is set for a significant transformation, with nearly 70% of the redevelopment work now complete, signaling a major improvement in city traffic management and commuter convenience.

Commissioner Aamir Khattak shared the progress during a review meeting, emphasizing that the project is on track for early completion, well ahead of its original 18-month schedule.

“Efforts are underway to complete this project in just six months while maintaining quality and transparency,” he said.

The redevelopment covers multiple high-traffic points, including Iftikhar Janjua Chowk, the Kachehri Chowk underpass, and the Jinnah Park Flyover, with construction work ranging between 60% and 66% completion.

Critical stages such as piling, deck slabs, and retaining walls have been fully completed, while other elements like boundary walls, utility ducts, and the sump well are nearing completion.

Officials noted that Kachehri Chowk handles thousands of vehicles daily, making it one of the city’s busiest intersections. The project’s completion is expected to significantly reduce congestion, improve traffic flow, and enhance overall commuter experience.

The commissioner urged all departments to adhere strictly to timelines and quality standards to ensure the remaining work is completed efficiently, promising much-needed relief for residents and commuters who face daily traffic challenges in the area.

This redevelopment positions Rawalpindi as a city modernizing its infrastructure while tackling urban mobility issues, a key step in improving everyday life for its citizens.
