Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Sunday said that Pakistan’s security forces had killed 684 militants belonging to the Afghan Taliban regime and the group referred to as Fitna Al Khawarij during the ongoing Operation Ghazab lil-Haq targeting terrorist infrastructure across the border.
Providing an operational update at around 1600 hours, the minister said that the security forces had also destroyed 252 militant posts, while 44 additional positions were captured and subsequently dismantled during the operation.
He said that more than 912 Afghan operatives were injured in the course of the operation, adding that around 229 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns used by the militants had also been destroyed.
According to the minister, about 73 terrorist and logistical infrastructure sites across Afghanistan had been effectively targeted through precision air strikes.
Tarar said that during the night of March 14 and 15, Pakistan Armed Forces struck several military installations and terrorist hideouts belonging to the Afghan Taliban and Fitna Al Khawarij.
He added that a technical support and equipment storage facility in Kandahar, allegedly used by militants to carry out attacks against Pakistani civilians, was destroyed during the strikes.
The minister said a tunnel housing technical equipment used by the militant groups was also destroyed in Kandahar. In another operation in the Chitral sector, ground forces destroyed a militant jump-off point located at Badini Post inside Afghan territory.
In a detailed post on social media platform X, Tarar also shared a video showing precision engagements by Pakistani forces against installations and camps allegedly supporting terrorism from Afghan soil.
He maintained that the operation specifically targeted militant infrastructure and that no civilian population or civilian facilities were hit, rejecting claims by Afghan authorities and some media outlets suggesting otherwise.
