488 Fresh HIV Cases Reported in Peshawar, Tally Reaches 5,690 This Year: NACP

Peshawar: With a rise of 488 new patients recorded over the past two months, the number of HIV/AIDS patients in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has risen to 5,690 registered patients, as reported by National AIDS Control Program (NACP) statistics.

A total of 4,004 males and 1,301 women were included in 5,690 new registered patients. The National Institute of Health in Islamabad was processing the diagnosis results for more than a thousand people.

The information showed that 50 transgenders were also tested positive for the virus in Peshawar; 128 young girls and 207 male children.

Similarly, Lady Reading Hospital and Hayatabad Medical Complex were treating 3,593 AIDs patients altogether. According to the study, 251 people were receiving treatment at Batkhela hospital while 1,270 AIDS patients were admitted to Kohat, Bannu, and DI Khan. Six hospitals in the province offered impacted patients free medical diagnosis and treatment services.

Peshawar was also treating more than 12 Afghan nationals and one Nigerian citizen who had HIV.

Most of the patients in Peshawar who were from other districts came here to receive better care. There isn’t currently a permanent treatment for this illness, though. Antibiotics and painkillers were given to the HIV patients but they couldn’t become normal.

In addition, the research stated that contaminated medical equipment is another factor in human AIDS transmission outside of physical relationships. APP
