4 Killed, Dozens Missing After Flash Floods in India

New Delhi: At least four people have been confirmed dead and dozens are reported missing after flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains struck the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.
According to officials, the floods forced the emergency evacuation of at least 70 people, while search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate those still missing.
Local media reported that continued heavy rainfall has hampered rescue operations, as major roads remain blocked by landslides. Army and disaster response teams are facing difficulty reaching Dharali village—a well-known tourist destination and a key stopover on the route to Gangotri town—due to the closure of a main highway.
An Indian Army official leading the rescue efforts said that the exact number of missing persons remains uncertain, but rescue operations continued through the night to evacuate stranded individuals and provide relief to affected areas.
The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of further rainfall in the region, raising concerns about additional flash floods and landslides in the coming days.
