Quetta: The Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE), Mir Ijaz Azeem Baloch, has suspended examination staff at the Bostan exam center in Pishin district after a raid led to the recovery of 33 mobile phones and the arrest of 13 fake candidates.
The raid was conducted on the special directives of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani. Chairman BBISE, accompanied by Controller of Examinations Abida Kakar, inspected the ongoing matriculation examination at the center.
During the operation, 33 mobile phones and cheating materials were confiscated, while 13 impersonators were apprehended and handed over to the police for further investigation.
Chairman Mir Ijaz Azeem Baloch emphasized the government’s strict stance on preventing exam malpractice, stating that concrete measures are being implemented to curb cheating. He reiterated that the ongoing matriculation examinations across Balochistan are being closely monitored, and the use of mobile phones in exam centers is strictly prohibited.
“We are conducting surprise inspections at examination centers in Quetta and other districts to ensure fair exams and uphold the quality of education. There will be no compromise on eliminating cheating,” he stated.
He further stressed that it is the responsibility of invigilators to prevent cheating and the use of unauthorized devices in examination halls.
BBISE has also enforced Section 144 across the province during the matriculation examinations, restricting the movement of unauthorized individuals near exam centers.
Controller of Examinations Abida Kakar warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found violating these regulations. “Preventing plagiarism and cheating is crucial for improving education standards in Balochistan,” she added.
Additionally, the BBISE Chairman suspended invigilators at two examination centers in Quetta the previous day for failing to prevent cheating.
