30 New Dengue Cases in Islamabad, 13 in Rawalpindi
News Desk
Islamabad: The Islamabad district administration has intensified its anti-dengue operations, inspecting more than 39,268 sites across the capital in an ongoing effort to control the spread of the virus, as 30 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
According to the latest dengue surveillance report, 17 of the new cases were detected in rural areas and 13 in urban sectors. Currently, 63 patients are under treatment at various hospitals in the city.
Field teams conducted extensive inspections of residential and commercial areas, identifying mosquito larvae at 313 locations, while one site tested negative. To curb further breeding, spray and fumigation operations were carried out at 1,452 locations, including homes and high-risk areas.
A spokesperson for the district administration said the anti-dengue campaign is being implemented without interruption and strict action is being taken against those violating standard operating procedures (SOPs). Several premises have been sealed, and individuals were taken into custody during the ongoing field operations.
“The drive against dengue will not slow down at any stage,” the official said, adding that legal action would be initiated against anyone found responsible for allowing mosquito larvae to breed on their premises.

Citizens have been urged to cooperate with inspection teams by maintaining cleanliness and eliminating stagnant water sources. Residents have also been advised to promptly report any dengue breeding spots or larvae sightings to the District Control Room for immediate response.
Officials said the surveillance and inspection teams are active across all sectors of Islamabad, covering both rural and urban areas. The ongoing operations include checking rooftops, underground tanks, construction sites, and other potential breeding grounds.
The administration emphasized that community awareness is crucial for the success of the anti-dengue campaign. Door-to-door visits, school awareness sessions, and distribution of informational leaflets are being conducted to educate the public about preventive measures.
To improve monitoring, mosquito density is being tracked through special traps installed in various neighborhoods, allowing authorities to identify high-risk zones and prioritize them for fumigation.
In recent weeks, inspection frequency has been increased in repeatedly affected areas, particularly construction zones and low-lying sectors where water tends to accumulate. Coordination with hospitals has also been strengthened to ensure timely case reporting and adequate medical support for dengue patients.
Health facilities across Islamabad have been directed to maintain separate dengue wards and ensure the availability of essential medicines, testing kits, and blood screening facilities.

The district administration reaffirmed that protecting public health remains its top priority and that rapid response teams are on constant alert. The control room continues to operate 24/7 to receive public complaints and direct swift response operations.
Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi, the District Health Authority (DHA) reported 13 new confirmed dengue cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases this year to 1,307. According to the latest data, 33 patients are currently admitted in different hospitals for treatment.
The DHA said allied hospitals have screened 20,055 suspected patients since January. Over 6.1 million houses have been inspected by 1,359 surveillance teams, identifying 195,861 positive sites. Additionally, 1.74 million potential breeding spots were checked, out of which 27,015 were found positive, and 222,876 larvae were eliminated.
Authorities have also taken punitive action against violations of dengue SOPs, registering 4,708 FIRs, sealing 1,901 premises, issuing 3,644 challans, and imposing fines totaling over Rs. 11.2 million.
A DHA spokesperson urged residents to remove standing water around their homes and cooperate with field teams, especially as cooler weather approaches, which can alter mosquito breeding patterns.
Both administrations reaffirmed their commitment to continue joint efforts across Islamabad and Rawalpindi until dengue transmission is brought fully under control.
