2nd Phase of Illegal Foreigners’ Repatriation Begins in KP

Peshawar: The second phase of the repatriation of illegal foreigners has commenced through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s border points following the March 31, 2025, deadline for Afghan Citizen Card holders to leave Pakistan.

According to a statement from the Home and Tribal Affairs Department on Thursday, a total of 153 illegal foreigners (IFs) have been repatriated under Phase-II so far.

On Wednesday, 27 IFs were repatriated under Phase-II, while 850 were sent back under Phase-I through the Torkham border. Since the start of Phase-I, a total of 477,434 illegal foreigners have been repatriated via Torkham, Angoor Adda, and Kharlachi border points, along with one deportation through the Sost Border with China.

On April 2, 2025, 850 IFs returned under Phase-I, while 27 IFs were sent back under Phase-II. Additionally, 8,953 IFs have been deported through KP’s border points under Phase-I.

Under Phase-I, the breakdown of repatriations is as follows:

470,722 IFs through Torkham

5,983 IFs via Angoor Adda

698 IFs through Kharlachi border

The Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Program (IFRP) has been in effect since November 1, 2023.

Furthermore, 2,953 IFs from other provinces have been deported via KP border points under Phase-I, including:

1,561 from Islamabad

1,309 from Punjab

1 from Gilgit Baltistan

38 from Azad Jammu and Kashmir

44 from Sindh

Through three transit points in KP, a total of 6,000 IFs have been deported:

4,940 IFs from Peshawar

1,059 IFs through Landi Kotal

1 IF from Kohat Jail

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) KP has been tasked with making operational transit points at Workers Welfare Board Colony, Nisarbagh (Peshawar), and Hamza Baba Mausoleum (Landi Kotal) before April 4, 2025, as per the decisions made in the final meeting of the Provincial Steering Committee overseeing repatriation preparations.

The KP Provincial Government has emphasized that repatriation efforts should be conducted humanely and that all necessary steps be taken immediately to facilitate the process and prevent any unwanted situations.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Relief, Rehabilitation, and Settlement Department KP has declared an emergency in districts Khyber and Peshawar, ensuring provisions for transportation, shelter, and food for the repatriated individuals.
