2,600 Evacuees Sheltered as Bahrain Tightens Security

Manama: Bahrain has activated emergency preparedness measures as regional security tensions intensify, with more than 2,600 evacuees currently accommodated in shelters across the kingdom, the Interior Ministry said during a televised briefing.
Officials said 13 of the country’s 33 emergency shelters have been activated so far, while 10 shelters are presently housing evacuees. Authorities added that the shelters are equipped with medical assistance and essential supplies to support those displaced.
In recent days, civil defence teams have responded to around 90 emergency incidents, including drone-related attacks on residential buildings and a hotel that sparked fires. Officials also reported incidents of shrapnel falling on vehicles, homes and public spaces during the same period.

Authorities reported that a recent attack on a hotel in the Capital Governorate was swiftly brought under control, with no casualties reported.
Officials also confirmed that several cyberattacks targeting national systems were successfully thwarted over the past week. They added that cybersecurity measures protecting key platforms and infrastructure have been strengthened to prevent further threats.
The Interior Ministry clarified that Bahrain’s public alarm system is activated only when there is a direct threat to the kingdom. Officials noted that explosion-like sounds occasionally heard in the area may result from interceptions of Iranian aircraft or drones outside Bahrain’s airspace.
Meanwhile, maritime security has been tightened, with the Coast Guard increasing patrols in Bahraini waters. A navigation ban remains in effect in northern maritime areas between 6:00 pm and 4:00 am daily as a precautionary measure.
To oversee national preparedness efforts, the National Centre for Civil Emergency Management has been activated. The centre is coordinating measures to safeguard vital infrastructure and ensure the continued operation of essential services across the country.

Bahraini authorities have assured that essential supplies and services remain stable as the kingdom maintains heightened security preparedness amid regional tensions.
Officials said strategic reserves of food, water, energy and medical supplies are available, while healthcare institutions are operating under emergency contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted services. Communication and public warning systems are also being closely monitored in coordination with international partners.
As a precaution, schools have shifted to distance learning, while around 70 percent of government employees are working remotely to maintain official operations while ensuring public safety.
Authorities confirmed that commercial markets and the King Fahad Causeway remain open. Residents have been advised to follow official instructions, avoid photographing military or incident sites, and stay clear of unexploded debris or any suspicious objects.
