25 Killed, Multiple Injured in Quetta Railway Station Blast

Islamabad: A bomb explosion near Quetta’s railway station claimed the lives of at least 25 people and left 30 others, including women and children, critically injured.
The blast, marking yet another tragic incident in Balochistan’s ongoing unrest, occurred as passengers prepared to depart. Authorities fear the death toll may rise, according to Edhi officials.
Emergency responders swiftly moved the bodies and injured to Quetta’s Civil Hospital, where an emergency has been declared, and medical staff were urgently summoned. Some of the critically injured are also receiving treatment at the hospital’s trauma center.
According to railway officials, the explosion happened near the ticket booth while two trains were scheduled for departure. SSP (Operations) Muhammad Baloch noted that a large crowd was on the platform, awaiting departure on the Jafar Express bound for Peshawar.
He added that the Crime Scene Unit was assessing the blast’s nature, with initial suspicions pointing toward a suicide attack. Security forces have cordoned off the area and initiated an investigation.
Shahid Rind, spokesperson for the provincial government, stated that police and security teams are working to secure the scene, and a report on the incident has been requested. He confirmed that the exact nature of the explosion and the extent of damages are under assessment.
Naqvi Condemns, Calls for National Unity
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the tragic blast near Quetta Railway Station, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extending condolences to the victims’ families.
In his statement, Naqvi emphasized the government’s unwavering resolve to bring the perpetrators of this “heinous act” to justice, calling for collective unity against terrorism.
Naqvi highlighted the need for solidarity, reassuring the public that the government will counter all threats to the country’s stability.
He denounced the attack as a “cowardly attempt to sow chaos” and assured the nation that these malicious efforts would be thwarted. “Together, we will overcome this despicable conspiracy against Pakistan,” Naqvi added, extending support to the grieving families.
