212 Militants Killed in 670 Terrorist Attacks During 2024: Report

Peshawar: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has reported a significant rise in terrorist activities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in 2024, with 670 incidents recorded during the year. The CTD report, issued on Sunday, highlighted the alarming security situation in the province.
According to the report, 212 militants were killed in counter-terrorism operations. The highest number of militant fatalities occurred in Dera Ismail Khan (80), followed by Bannu (41), Khyber District (23), and North Waziristan (19).
The human toll of these attacks was devastating. A total of 204 police personnel were martyred and 383 injured while combating terrorism. Civilians also bore a heavy burden, with 174 killed and 275 injured in various attacks throughout the year.
Dera Ismail Khan emerged as the most affected area, with 121 terrorist incidents, followed by Bannu (116) and Khyber District (80).
The figures underscore the grave security challenges faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2024. Despite the successful elimination of several militants, the report reflects the need for sustained efforts to address the escalating terrorism threat and ensure safety for both law enforcement personnel and civilians in the region.
