16-Year-Old Girl Killed in Suspected Honor Killing
News Desk
Jhelum: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by her uncle in a tragic case of honor killing, police reported.
According to police officials, the suspect fled the scene after committing the crime, claiming it was done in the name of “honor.” A case has been registered against him based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father.
The girl’s body, bearing multiple gunshot wounds, was found lying on the road.
This incident echoes a similar case last year in Vehari, where two sisters were brutally murdered after marrying partners of their choice. Following a decision by a local panchayat, their family, disapproving of their free-will marriages, brought them back home.
The District Police Officer (DPO) revealed that the sisters were killed by their father, brother, and uncle within the jurisdiction of Machiwal police station.
Honor killings remain a grave issue in Pakistan, with human rights activists calling for stricter enforcement of laws to curb such violence.
