12 Arrested, 20 Stolen Cars Returned to Owners in Islamabad

Islamabad: Islamabad police claimed to have  arrested 12 members of four active car lifting gangs and recovered 20 stolen vehicles, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan announced at a press conference at the Police Lines Headquarters on Sunday.

The arrests were made by the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) during targeted operations. The suspects, identified as Muhammad Junaid, Noman, Abdul Rehman, Hamza Iqbal, Babar Khan, Arsalan, Muhammad Jibran, Muhammad Luqman, Muhammad Fayyaz, Shafqat Ali, Arsalan Anwar, and Noman Gulzar, were involved in stealing vehicles by breaking windows, using master keys, and targeting older models such as Corolla, Mehran, Khyber, Bolan, and Cultus.

SSP Shoaib highlighted that modern technology, including surveillance of previous records, surprise checkpoints, and decoy operations, played a crucial role in tracking the culprits. He assured that the suspects would be prosecuted based on solid evidence to ensure their conviction.

During the event, SSP Shoaib handed over the recovered vehicles’ keys to their rightful owners, who expressed gratitude for the police’s swift action in retrieving their stolen property.

Islamabad police reaffirmed their commitment to curbing car theft and maintaining law and order in the city.
